About Me

Hi and thanks for stopping past my blog! This blog was created for my social media course in Marist College’s graduate in Integrated Marketing Communications program.

My name is Damaris Colon (pronounced: DUH-Mare-Riss Cologne), I am a 27 year old mother of two amazing children(1 boy and 1 girl). I was born and raised in Newark, Delaware but feel like NYC is home.

I graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science degree for my major studies in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing. While enrolled I interned in STUFF Magazine's marketing department as well as Vibe Vixen Magazine's beauty department. At the beginning of my junior year I was offered a full time Assistant Account Executive position with one of the top beauty & fashion public relations agencies in NYC, Tractenberg & CO. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. From there I actually switched gears a little and went into the Fashion Industry as the Executive Assistant to the President & CEO of U.S. Polo Association (a division of Jordache Enterprises). Next, I was an Account Executive with another beauty public relations agency, Blue Sky Communications

What happened after Blue Sky I often refer to as "career suicide" because while I was pregnant with my son I made the decision to move back home to be closer to family. Depending on the industry you work in, sometimes moving home can be a good thing. However, where I'm from, Delaware, the beauty and fashion public relations industry is non-existent.  So, after living in Delaware for two years and only being able to find employment as the store manager of a shoe store I decided enough was enough and started taking the necessary steps to move back to the city. And I am focusing heavily on building my brand/business which are two online shopping websites www.the-style-closet.net and www.london-rock.com.

Interesting Facts:

- I graduated from Barbizon Modeling School

- I participated in three Miss Delaware Teen USA Pageants where I was named Most Photogenic and Miss Congeniality in my second year and was named Miss Congeniality and made the top 15 and tied to make the top 5 in my third year.

- I was pictured in Vibe Magazine's July 2007 issue and was quoted in a story in The New York Times in January of 2012.
